Trip to botanical Gardens on 11May
Today, we had a meeting in the botanical garden, discussed future plans about the story-telling competition and some other staff. Then we went though the “Evolution Walk” and visited the garden. We took a lot of photos. We all felt happy and that was a very interesting trip. I learnt the evolution of the earth environment and how to organize a activity. I suggest we go to some more interesting places to hold meeting.

Monthly Meeting and fieldtrip to the Botanical Gardens
11May 2008
In the bright sunshine, a group of people wearing orange T-shirt rambled in this enchanting natural scenery---multi-colored flowers embellishing the dense branches, the shade encircling the lake, birds attracted by the sweet aromatic air flying around and singing.
What a happy outing! Actually this was the monthly meeting of our Frontier YEC for May. Instead of the boring discussion in the usual conference room, we grouped together in the Botanical Gardens this time to share information collected by each member, plan for the following events, while having fun. Also, during this outing, we conducted a survey of the condition here in details, as this garden would be a site of Education Tour which is a meaningful event we are preparing.
Around 1.30 pm, our bus got to the gate of Children’s Garden. After lunch, we sit in a circle outside the garden and start our meeting. It lasted about 2 hours. Then we went inside and enjoyed the beauty of the scenary. The first sight was the Evolution Garden where we took photos and played games happily. Then we visited the corner green, saw Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage and went by National Orchid Garden, Ginger Garden, Coach Drop-off and Swan Lake. When we got out, we discussed and selected a final path for the Education Tour. Afterward, we got on the bus and went back.
This meeting was indeed happy and efficient. Hope we can have activities like this more often. I had really a good time together with all YEC members. This outing is another unforgettable memory of my days in Frontier YEC. I think our members are great and our YEC is great. Let’s just keep on working together and get ready for the coming events!

Mother's Day Celebration dinner on 10 May 2008
(Collaboration with various zones rcs)
“有一个名字叫母亲,有一份情叫母爱。”
It’s 10th May, the day before Mother’s Day. We PRC students went to Jurong East to celebrate Mother’s Day.
As long as I arrived there, I saw a line of words read mother is always our idol. My tear was just filled my eyes. I suddenly felt very proud of myself, because I could be here to help and celebrate this special day with more other mothers although I cannot stay with my own mom. After we had our lunch there, we started to pack goody bags for our moms. We are all interested in it and we even enjoyed competing each other that who could pack faster. That’s really much more fun than tiredness.
Some of us are also invited to the dinner in the evening. It’s our first time to attend this kind of big dinner in Singapore. We were very excited about the procedure they served the dishes and the shows during the dinner. The singers sang very well. Particularly, I enjoyed the “dress show” very much. A senator of Singapore also came over to visit our moms as well. He seems to be very kind and I was 惊讶 的to see this big shot in such a short distance.
Over all, it’s a meaningful day for all of us and I want to say mother is always our idol.

Mother's Day Celebration dinner on 10 May 2008
(Collaboration with various zones rcs)
Since this mother’s day celebration is held by many RCs together, I felt this is one of the biggest activities I joined in Singapore. In the afternoon, we helped people there to make goodies bags, it’s a pleasure working with those people, and we cooperated well. In the evening, we had a good dinner and enjoyed the show. Although I don’t know most of the singers and dancers on the stage, they really performed well. The only thing that made me sad is the speed they offered food, really slow. However, that’s not the point. The point is our wishes to our mothers. Best wishes to our mothers!

Teambuilding course at Taman Jurong CC
The Frontier YEC was honoured to attend a team building workshop organised by Taman Jurong YEC on 19th April 2008.
The workshop “Looking In, Focusing Out- The Motivational Profile Approach” was conducted by NACLI. A few of us attended th workshops: Carol, me, Wanling and Bixin.
It helps us to learn about the primary motivations that motivate ourselves and also how others are motivated.
We started the day by first having some physical stretching session in a fun manner.
This was followed by an icebreaker session where we try to learn more about the background of each other.
From there, we found out that some of us are musically inclined; others are camp lovers; others having high level of medical knowledge and many interesting things.
We had various results from the motivational profiling questionnaire and apparently I seem to have results that is not in tandem with the majority (Maybe I have weird way of thinking and have a special way of being motivated =P).
Lunch was next on the schedule.
We had lunch in a buffet style at the hall of Taman Jurong CC.
A game of “ding and dong” that requires a focused brain was the first item after lunch.
It was then followed by “transformer” and “traffic light” where we put our motivational profiling into practice before we call it for a day.

Today’s Emergency Preparedness Day is a very interesting and meaningful event. The event began at 10 a.m. and came to the end at 2 p.m. in Jurong Medical Centre. We learnt what to do when a bomb exploded or when the place where we stay was fired through the painting board. We learnt how to prevent mosquitoes’ breeding through a small model and we learnt how to do first aid through life guard’s demonstration. There was also bedroom & bathroom hygiene staircase and easily self health check. A blood donation section was set and Carol, Ben and Wang Hao were very brave to donate their blood. But only Ben reach the doctor’s requirement thus only he could donate. I was afraid of pain so I didn’t participate. Now I’m thinking of trying next time because it is an unique experience in life.
In short, this kind of event can teach people, especially children, some general knowledge of body health, family hygiene and behavior in emergency. It educates people to lead a more comfortable and healthier lifestyle.
By the way, we were not so lucky at the lucky draw as we did not win anything. However, I enjoyed this event very much and I hope every one enjoyed today.

We had our team building cum YEC meeting on 5th Jan 2008 at Sakura at Jurong West Swimming Complex for their International Buffet Lunch. Today is very special as we had the PRCs attached to us to attend our Team Building event. Let’s warmly welcome them. =)
The PRCs attached to us are as follows:
Majie
Huang Xu
Shen Kai
Senyuan
Weiru
Shiyan
Wan Hao
*Applause *
In addition, we had an observer with us today. He’s Jeremy (Jing Kang’s friend).
*Applause* Our YEC is really expanding. YEAH!
Before we had our lunch, we had our monthly YEC meeting. We have discussed about our Chinese New Year Tour, Storytelling Competition (Flagship Event) and Egaming etc.
Without further ado, let’s FEAST !!
It was a Japanese plus International Buffet. They have Sashimi (YUM!), Dim Sum, fried food, grilled fish, chicken etc…. there’s definitely no lag of food.
Everyone is enjoying their FOOD!
After we were all fully and well fed, we had a round of introduction. We had better idea about each other’s name, our interests and occupation/ field of study. This introduction is not done without an objective. We played a game whereby we had to write our name and 3 things about ourselves (2 things that is true and 1 is untrue). When Michelle read out all the facts about the person, we had to say which fact is false. During the game, everyone is enthusiastic guessing which fact is false. Everyone had fun guessing which is false and using our own theory to eliminate the facts or using their “feel” to guess which fact does not fit the person. Even though it’s a simple game, but everyone enjoyed the process of it. On top of it, we got to know everyone, even for those members who had been in the committee since last term.
Personally, I feel that I got to know more about the PRCs. Not only about themselves, I also got to know more about their hometown. From the famous attractions, to their culture and food. This further enhances my interest in China, which I was already attracted to China’s magnificent landscapes, mountains and food culture. =) Hopefully, I have chance to visit to these famous and beautiful attractions.

Food is the common link between all.. Food breaks all barrier..

Teambonding Lunch
Date : 5th Jan 2008
Time: 12 pm
Venue : Jurong West Stadium Sakura Restaurant
It was a happy lunch indeed. Finally, all our PRC members got to get together with YEC staff. For most of us, it’s the first time to meet with their buddies, making us quite excited. Still, it’s a pity that several buddies were absent. Before lunch, we had a meeting discussing the working plan for the following half year. As we are newcomers in this team, we didn’t really contribute much to the meeting. Most of the time, we just sit and listen. To tell the truth, we got confused about the procedure of the meeting. Although we didn’t say anything during the meeting, I think the existence of us did count. As we nod or smile during their presentation, they felt the recognition of their proposal from us. Thus, we had an efficient meeting. After that, we ate lunch and chat together. Everyone was so friendly that we soon got familiar with each other. We even played a little game---Each one write 3things about oneself, one of which should be false. And the rest should find out the false one. That game helped us get to know each member better and created a friendly atmosphere within the team. Every of our PRC members valued the chance to work with these local friends. We would like to put every effort to help them and make friends with all of them. We like this team, we enjoy the CC activities.

Christmas Cum Countdown Party @ zone 5
Date: 29 Dec. 2007
Time: 7:30 pm.
Venue: Zone 5 RC multi-purpose hall
This was the first event which I took part in with YECs. Our job was to serve the food and my job was to tear the tickets and tell my friends how many sets of food we should provide. Usually we served two or three sets at a time but sometimes we need to serve 8 sets at a time. Haha, don’t worry, we packed them very well without panic. Besides the food, there were many other programs such as singing, game zone, small gifts, lucky draw and so on during the party. We also hold two interesting games for the kids at zone 5. They were so lovely. People chatted and ate happily and welcomed the coming New Year warmly.
For the new year, may everyone stay healthy and cheerful!
