Chashin - the place for tea

good company, the fact that i was on leave and had sufficient sleep, and a perfect place to have tea and chat the afternoon away made my thursday...rewardingly restful.

Chashin's located at 6 Handy Road, beside The Cathay, at this new building called Luxe. there's an art gallery behind the tea place, a nice combination. my friend ordered the japanese rice tea:

and i had the hot lychee tea.

of course, the foodie in me just couldn't resist trying out some snacks on the menu, and i chose the milk and honey jelly (which i loved but my friend wasn't so crazy about).

a pleasant surprise: the nice lady boss presented us with a apple cake!

we stayed and talked (agenda-lessly, randomly and comfortably) for over 3 hours. a rare luxury, i'm sure u know what i mean. i'm selfishly hoping this place will remain as it was yesterday: quiet, but that would mean it may have to close coz there isn't enough business and i'm sure it won't coz more and more people r bound to find out about it and love it and frequent it. oh well, good things get better when shared, yeah? :)

practice makes perfect (pictures)

someone ever made a comment that i don't quite know how to pose for the camera. i agree and i think that person meant well. in this business, not knowing how to face the lens can be mildly to extremely damaging, depending on how bad the photo is of course. still trying to get good at the art of posing. and smiling. i guess taking more pictures can help.
hmm...i like this look. sharp and a bit cold. not like the usual pf, more intriguing. :) (picture taken with the new Sony Ericsson c905 cybershot 8.1 mega pixels camera phone)

ah. on a very different note, let's take some time to appreciate the lyrics of a very impressive song from some time ago that i'm recently re-listening to.

U2 - One

"One" is the third single from U2's 1991 album, Achtung Baby, and was released in 1992. It is widely considered to be one of the band's greatest songs and is consistently featured in lists of the greatest songs of all time. It was named the 36th greatest song by Rolling Stone on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

During the recording of Achtung Baby, tensions in the band began to rise over the direction of the album. Bono and The Edge favored electronica and dance music explorations, while Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton preferred a traditional rock approach. U2 was on the brink of breaking up when the band rallied around a riff The Edge was trying to write for the bridge of "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)". It inspired the band to write "One," and it changed the band's outlook on the album, helping bring a renewed sense of optimism towards the material they had already recorded. Leaving Berlin on a high note, the band was able to complete the rest of the album in Dublin. For this reason it is widely considered, by the band and fans, to be the song that saved U2.

In 1993, speaking to Robert Hilburn of the Los Angeles Times, Bono offered a more ambiguous meaning to the lyrics, saying "It is a song about coming together, but it's not the old hippie idea of 'Let's all live together.' It is, in fact, the opposite. It's saying, We are one, but we're not the same. It's not saying we even want to get along, but that we have to get along together in this world if it is to survive. It's a reminder that we have no choice"
.

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

One

if you walk past a magazine stand any of these days and happen to spot someone on the cover of a magazine that looks a little like me, then it may just be.

hee.

am very honoured to be chosen to appear on the cover of the Nov issue of Oh Taste (味之道), a monthly food magazine. would like to thank jacky and 爱薇 for the article, alvin and smith from wizards of light for the pictures, and zeus for the make-up. i did notice one thing tho...kinda thot my face looked a little unfamiliar to myself at first sight, and, after studying it closely, i realised y. the cover pic has been mirror-imaged...flipped...i dunno wat's the technical term for it. but the original pic looked like this:

can tell the difference? i'm wondering if they did it to 迁就 the words...not very used to seeing myself flipped horizontally around...haha. i like the artistic direction tho. i'm holding some soil and a green plant in my hand. if u watched Wall-E, u'd get the idea.

n i do like the pics inside! so...if u can...support a bit la. :) besides the interview in which i offer some tips to being eco-friendly, i've also shared a Watermelon Feta Salad recipe that's reallie simple (trust me, if i can do it, so can u). Oh Taste november is out in all good magazine stands / book stores and it costs just $5 per copy. wah. getting a bit hard sell here. okie i'll stop. but do try to get a copy k? ok i am stopping. like now. :)
